Kristina Logan
"Glass Beadmaking at the Torch"
May 31 - June 3 (4-day workshop)

This 4-day workshop is carefully designed to help improve your hand skills at the torch.  Kristina will demonstrate and explain in detail how she achieves uniform patterns, symmetrical designs, and careful dot placement on her beads.  She will help students improve their precision at the torch by giving them specific lessons that will encourage everyone to think carefully about every tiny movement they make and help them make progress towards better beads.  Kristina loves to help her students take their work to the next level.

The overall goal of this class is for each student to improve their own beadmaking skills.  Kristina will offer new ways of using tools, heat, and patience! at the torch.

This class meets from 9am to 5pm each day, Tuesday through Friday, with additional studio time Tuesday through Thursday, from 5pm to 9pm. Materials for participating in the course are included. If you have specific colors you are interested in working with please bring them with you.

Kristina Logan is recognized internationally for her precisely patterned glass beads, jewelry and objects.

Kristina's jewelry and ornate objects are well sought after and have been collected by The Smithsonian Museum of American Art: Renwick Gallery, Washington DC, The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston MA, The Corning Museum of Glass, Corning NY, and the Musée du Verre de Sars-Poteries, Sars-Poteries, France.

The Corning Museum of Glass writes-- "...the work of Kristina Logan stands out for its originality, sophistication, and innovation. Logan is an especially talented artist who works with flameworked glass. She makes unique and complex beads in intricate patterns whose sometimes knobby forms recall the remarkable eye beads made in ancient China. Yet Logan's style is purely contemporary."

Kristina writes that beads "are part of my lifelong fascination with art and ornamentation. Glass beads form an historical thread, connecting people and cultures throughout our history".

Kristina's work and desire to educate has been an inspiration for many glass beadmakers throughout the world.
